So, stimulus bill in hand, Mr. Obama can go ahead and sign it into law. It’s okay; it’s not like anyone could even read the bill…they had all of 8 hours to read 1100 pages. But that’s not the best part. No, no. President Obama will surely sign this despite his self-declared statement that he would veto any legislature not reviewed for a minimum of 5 days. Whatever, Mr. Obama. Go ahead and sign the most important legislation that will graze your desk, and likely taint your presidency. Fine by me.
And don’t get me started on the bi-partisanship. We really don’t want to go there.
So, what’s next…other than adding another trillion dollars to the national deficit?
I’m betting that the Democrats will try to take away American 401Ks. They will probably try to take away our Second Amendment rights first though, if they are smart. They won’t succeed, but their efforts to take away our guns are very likely. I’m prepared for this. You should be as well. If the Democrats insist on taking away our 401Ks, this nation will show its colors. Something revolutionary would ensue…I’m prepared to fight this one. I’m not referring to a verbal fight. I’m talking about a war. Something similar to the Boston Tea Party is highly probable in my honest opinion. The point must be made if ever this came to pass, or to even be considered. I will not stand for this. Which side are you on?
Giving In and Going Home!
I would very quickly like to offer my congratulations Republican Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania.
I hope you have a great time trying to get reelected. And thank you for helping to keep our economy in the gutter through the remainder of Obama’s presidency.
Enjoy your government 401K, and your last years as US Senators.
Not Taking Care of Business
Somebody I know recently described our economic crisis as bailing out the people who shower before work when we should be bailing out those who shower after work.
Was he right? Very much so. Many people can agree. The best part of the latest and greatest bailout, er, economic stimulus package is how ridiculous it truly is. Here is the breakdown for those who haven’t seen it:
6.5 Billion- State, Defense, Homeland Security Department
8.7 Billion- Financial services general government
7 Billion- Military Construction, veteran affairs
14.2 Billion- Commerce, Justice, and Science
15 Billion- Interior and Environment
17.1 Billion- Health Information Technology
27 Billion- Agriculture, Nutrition, and Rural Development
40 Billion- Health Insurance Assistance for the Unemployed
46.3 Billion- Assistance for unemployed workers
48.9 Billion- Energy and water
59.5 Billion- Transportation, housing, and urban development
79 Billion- State fiscal stabilization fund
88.9 Billion- Medicaid provisions
92.3 Billion- Labor, health and Human Services, Education and other departments
267.7 Billion- Tax Cuts and Credits
(Congressional Budget Office)
This looks alright from the outside, but when we analyze further do you notice which parts of the bill don’t go to government departments.
I will list these categories below:
1)
2)
3)
Exactly! See the problem? We can surely assist the market in creating jobs, but what about improving PRODUCTIVITY. After all, jobs don’t mean anything when productivity is not maximized.
But I’m no economist, so I won’t dwell on this issue. However, I will reference Mr. Obama’s urgency to enact this latest stimulus plan. I don’t see what the rush is…again, I’m not economics expert; I understand Mr. President has his economic advisors, but last I checked, none of them have been right before. How can we pump all this money into the system, which can barely sustain itself because of interest compounded onto debt? We are digging ourselves a larger hole, though Obama claims we will fall into an “irreversible recession.”
According to some major economic analysis groups (who arguably may be wrong, sure), a stimulus package would likely not influence the market for at least two years. Therefore, we are left with a simple verdict: let’s rush a package into action so that it cannot take near immediate effect. It’s the good ol’ “Hurry up…and wait” routine.
Lucky for us we have a salvation – his name is not Jesus Christ. His name is not Barack Hussein Obama. His name is Timothy Geithner – a man appointed by President Obama and confirmed by yours truly, the US Senate. He is now in charge of the US Treasury, an approximate 17 trillion dollar responsibility. But alas, he couldn’t even file the taxes of his own “marginal” salary…using TurboTax. Last I checked the back of the computer software’s box had an image of the TurboTax checkmark logo and a promise that reads “Guaranteed 100% Accurate Calculations.” I’m glad to know we are in such qualified hands.
I urge you, as Americans and as constituents, to contact your Senators and Representatives, from whichever state you may be from, and keep this bill held up longer until a more reasonable, viable, realistic option is created.
