A Conservative Viewpoint from the Liberal Stronghold.

Strong Words Missed By Press, Embolden Party-Goers

AMAZING. That’s the only word that can describe the medias utter lack of coverage for an event so astounding. At 4:00 Pm on a Wednesday afternoon over 5,000 (according to the official count) Texans gathered at the door step of the state legislature for the Austin Tea Party. The union of Texas Republicans and Libertarians made an awesome sight, showing that while the two groups held strong differences, they were truly united in opposition to Left’s plan for this country.  What truely made the day, however, were the emboldening words, not spoken from right-wing extremists or conspiracy theorists, but from the state’s elected officials and high profile members of the conservative movement in Texas which the media seems to have missed.

Already empowered by the strong persona now dawned by Governor Rick Perry, who has vehemently opposed DC intrusion into the state’s economy and statute code, the crowd was simply estatic when the event started. First, the Free Market Foundation’s Jonathan Saenz led the thousands of participants in chanting “No More Taxes” for all the members of the legislature to hear. After him, U.S. Congressman Mike McCaul took his turn producing the loudest response of the day. During his speech he discussed why he had refused to vote for the TARP, Porkulous (stimulus for all you pork loving libs), Omnibus, and finally the Obama Budget. His largest amount of support, however, came after he claimed that “Speaker Pelosi has to go!” To this the thousands of people expressed their complete support by releasing an amazing upheaval.

Then came the climactic ending, State Senator Dan Patrick. Powerfully, Patrick came to the rostrum and began to explain a segment of the Declration of Independence that he said has been overlooked for too long. That in dealing with government “It is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing it Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness”. After calling out the Congress for their failure to represent the people of the United States, and for their oppresive behavior, he then encouraged all to be active and to lay claim to their Congress.

So while CNN tries to pretend like these Tea Parties are a bunch of people who were just stirred up by FOX News, and while the Democrats argue that this movement is just “astroturf“, the fact is that these people are being encourage by those who matter most: Their Elected Representatives. And if this goes much farther who knows where these countless thousands of Texans will take us… as Greg Abbott said, we may have to start calling him President Perry.
